RUSTWAKE

Privacy Policy

Effective 7 November 2026Applies to RUSTWAKE v0.2 Early Access

The short version

  • RUSTWAKE has no accounts, no ads and no analytics, and we run no servers.
  • Optional online co-op connects your computer directly to the other players in your session. They can see your IP address, your character and what you do in the game.
  • We do not collect, sell or receive your personal information.
  • Your saves and settings stay on your own computer.
  • If Discord is running, the game shows what you are doing in-game as your Discord status. You can turn this off at any time.

01Who we are

RUSTWAKE is an open-world first-person game made by the independent developer Toweliee ("we", "us"). This policy explains what happens to information when you play RUSTWAKE.

02What we collect

Nothing. RUSTWAKE does not send information about you or your play to us. The game has no login, no telemetry, no tracking and no advertising, and we run no servers that the game talks to. Online co-op does not go through us either.

Information leaves the game in only two cases, and neither sends it to us: the optional Discord status described in section 4, and the game data exchanged with other players when you play online co-op, described in section 5.

03Data kept on your computer

To work, the game writes some files to your own computer. We cannot see these files.

FileWhat it holdsWhere
Save gamesYour level, inventory, gear, quest progress, discovered places, position in the world and play timeSaved/SaveGames/ in the game folder
SettingsGraphics, mouse sensitivity and field of viewThe game's Saved/Config/ folder
Co-op addressThe last host address you typed into the Join boxSaved/coop.txt
LogsTechnical messages from Unreal Engine, which can include your graphics card model, Windows version and file pathsThe game's Saved/Logs/ folder

You can delete any of these files at any time. Deleting save files permanently deletes your progress.

04Discord Rich Presence

If the Discord desktop app is running on the same computer, RUSTWAKE uses Discord's Rich Presence feature to show your in-game activity as your Discord status. The game sends this information only to the Discord app on your computer, using Discord's local connection. Discord then shows it to other people according to your Discord settings.

What the game shares with Discord

  • What you are doing, such as exploring, driving, trading or loading
  • The name of the in-game place you are in
  • Your character level, world tier and the quest you are tracking
  • The in-game time of day and weather
  • When your current play session started

The game does not read your Discord friends list, messages or servers. When it connects, Discord tells the game which account is signed in. The game does not save or use that information.

How to turn it off

  • In Discord, open User Settings, then Activity Privacy, and turn off sharing your activity status.
  • Or close the Discord app while you play.
  • Or set "enabled": 0 in the game's discord.json file.

Information that reaches Discord is handled under Discord's Privacy Policy.

05Online co-op

RUSTWAKE lets up to four players play together. One player hosts, and the others join by typing the host's IP address. The game connects your computer directly to the other players' computers over the internet, a local network or a VPN you choose. No server of ours is involved, and we never receive this data.

What other players in your session receive

  • Your IP address. The host's computer receives the IP address of everyone who joins, and everyone who joins already knows the host's address. An IP address can reveal your approximate location and your internet provider.
  • The character name and appearance you chose in the game
  • The weapon you have equipped, your position and movement, your shots and explosions, whether your flashlight is on and whether your character is alive

Your save file, inventory, progress and settings are not sent to other players. Your Windows account name and Discord account are not sent.

Things to know

  • Only host or join sessions with people you trust, because they will see your IP address.
  • Hosting over the internet usually means opening UDP port 7777 on your router, which lets other computers reach yours on that port. Close it when you stop hosting, or use a private VPN such as Tailscale or Radmin VPN instead.
  • Co-op is off unless you choose Host Game or Join in the Co-op menu. Leaving the session closes the connection.

06Crashes and support

If the game crashes, Unreal Engine may write a crash log on your computer. We do not receive crash reports automatically. If you choose to send us a log, a save file or a message for support, we use it only to fix your problem and improve the game, and we delete it when we no longer need it.

07Stores and other services

The store or website you got RUSTWAKE from, and services such as Discord, have their own privacy policies. They decide what they collect when you buy, download or launch games through them. This policy covers only the game itself.

08Children

RUSTWAKE contains realistic weapons and combat and is not directed at children under 13. Because the game collects no personal information, it does not knowingly collect information from children.

09Your choices and rights

Depending on where you live, laws such as the GDPR or California's privacy laws give you rights to access, correct or delete personal information that a company holds about you. We do not hold personal information about RUSTWAKE players. If you have sent us something for support, you can ask us to delete it.

10Changes to this policy

If a future version of RUSTWAKE adds features that use your information, such as online matchmaking, accounts or achievements, we will update this policy and change the effective date before those features ship. Material changes will be announced in the official RUSTWAKE Discord server and where the game is distributed.

11Contact

For privacy questions or requests, contact Toweliee in the official RUSTWAKE Discord server or through the page where you got the game.
